Umarex T4E HDS Shotgun.68 Caliber Training Pistol Review

Umarex T4E HDS Shotgun believes that having a reliable long-range weapon is one of the most crucial things for a trainer, which is why we are exposing you to the top options available. A RAM shotgun designated the Umarex T4E HDS 68 is made to fire.68 caliber rubber and pepper projectiles. It is the perfect weapon for self-defense and is also excellent for target practice and pleasure shooting.

This shotgun’s polymer-coated alloy frame dramatically reduces the gun’s total weight. A 22 mm Weaver rail is installed on the lower portion of the grip for attaching tactical attachments. The components have all been created to be as reliable as possible.

One 12g CO2 cartridge must be put into the grip to power the device. The cartridge can be punctured using the cap at the base of the grip. It would help if you were not concerned about the seal becoming destroyed. A shotgun with two barrels, the HDS 68 fires 68 rubber balls of caliber (17,3 mm). The projectile has a 16 J energy. You can decide whether you wish to fire from each barrel separately or simultaneously.

Instead of an external manual safety, this model includes a Double Action Only (DAO) trigger mechanism with a trigger safety. This approach is secure if you follow the essential guidelines for safe use of firearms. The German company Umarex’s T4E weapons (Training for Engagement) are widely used by the armed services and other professionals as functional training equipment for self-defense.

Features of Umarex T4E HDS Shotgun
⦁ Accuracy

My first shot had a velocity of 180 FPS after firing a few rounds with rubber ball paintballs, which are heavier than regular paintballs. My second shot had a marginally higher frame rate of 184 FPS, around the promised 200 FPS, even though it was only 16°C (60°F) outside. Since the shotgun had no natural sights, I had to eyeball it.

But when I shot it more frequently, the center of the target became closer to my shots. You should be able to accurately hit an 8–10 inch target at a distance of 30 feet, even if the T4E HDS is not a tac driver. The second shot option shouldn’t be used because the same amount of CO2 is used in both rounds, which results in a reduction of about 50%. Decrease in FPS, making the paintball rounds shoot much slower and less effective.

⦁ 7 or 16-Joule Versions Are Offered

The restrictor can be removed, as demonstrated in a plethora of YouTube videos, and after that, it will be 16 joules. The restrictor can be permanently removed if you want to take a paintball course. However, I bought mine to shoot rubber balls requiring more strength. 16 joules will blow the paintballs out of the barrels.

⦁ Powered By One 12g CO2 Cartridge

To be sure that this fits, enter your model number. The device is powered by 68 caliber CO2 paintballs or rubber balls (CO2 is omitted). A CO2 chamber with a quick-piercing valve made the installation of CO2 simple (CO2 is omitted). Lights, lasers, and other accessories can be mounted on the Picatinny rail.

⦁ Perfect For Usage In The Home

I want to note that I bought this firearm for personal protection at home. My wife and two kids deserve to live in safety and readiness. I’ve been in the military for ten years, and I’ve been on four deployments throughout that time.

I would not need to consider my family’s safety when guns are readily available. Nor do I want to cope with the emotional and physical fallout from wounding or murdering a fleeing suspect. The HDS Shotgun is perfect for those who take care of themselves and family.

It provides me with the ease, familiarity, and comfort of a real gun while assuring me that the stopping power is strong enough to fend off any prospective attackers.

I discharged numerous rounds through this firearm without a single jam or misfire (knock on wood). Because I believe in these substitutes for actual firearms, I purchased the T4E PPQ and the TR50, as seen in the photograph.

I fired just one shot from the same range with each weapon, using fresh 12gram CO2 cartridges. The TR50 revolver, strangely, deals the most damage, even though all three guns are fantastic. The location of the projectiles is essential to these weapons’ efficiency.

⦁ Excellent For Both Self-Defense and Leisure Shooting

Using the Umarex T4E HDS CO2 Paintball Shotgun was a lot of fun. It functions like a big boy Nerf gun and may be used on the paintball field if you so choose. Although I believe it to be quite inadequate for home defense, there may be a little shock factor that could delay or dissuade an attacker long enough for you to flee or seek cover.

In this case, maybe using the pepper rounds might be effective. Regardless, the Umarex T4E HDS Shotgun is a great and distinctive CO2 shotgun that is not unduly pricey and is a welcome addition to any shotgun enthusiast’s collection.

Pros
  • Comparatively light
  • Most likely strong enough in close quarters
  • The ideal ammunition.
  • Holds pressure until the final rounds, largely consistently.
  • Enjoy the device at its maximum muzzle velocity.
  • Used for self-defense at home.
  • Non-lethal
  • Superior craftsmanship
Cons
  • Since it contains gas or liquid, the item cannot be returned.`

Conclusion

If you’re experimenting with Umarex T4E HDS Shotgun in general, this gun is a fantastic first purchase because it’s a reasonable option. I’ve always preferred firearms made primarily of metal with very little polymer.

After watching Michael’s educational film about it, I decided to buy the shotgun. It might not be realistic on a paintball field, but shooting is still a lot of fun. The shotgun is quite nicely crafted and weighs 3.75 lbs.

The polymer’s quality impressed me, and I thought I had received my money’s worth. Because there are no sights, accuracy won’t be very high (hence the 4 stars). Even though this is not a long-range weapon, the accuracy is respectable.
